Sheriff's Headquarter's Bureau
is organized into the following sections:

 Special Projects Section

The Special Projects Section of this Bureau handles preparation and choreographing of Department events, including the Peace Officers' Memorial, Valor Award Presentations, Graduation Ceremonies, Sheriff's Day Luncheon, Tree Planting Ceremonies, Recognition Luncheons, and various Christmas programs. This Section also provides assistance to other units with the preparation and coordination of station dedications, groundbreaking ceremonies, and station open houses. The Special Projects Section alone generates approximately 2,000 pieces of correspondence annually and orchestrates an average of 35 yearly events.

 Media Liaison Section

The Media Liaison Section provides the media with advisories and news releases regarding Department activity, coordinates news conferences, processes approximately 1,700 requests annually for interviews of Department executives, personnel, and inmates, and issues approximately 2,000 press passes per year. The Media Liaison Section also assists patrol and detective units in the field with media representation in response to significant incidents such as homicides, barricaded suspects, rescues, civil disturbances, and natural disasters.

 International Liaison Section

The International Liaison Section maintains an affiliation with 83 foreign consulates in the Los Angeles area, and issues and controls all Departmental consular identification credentials. In addition to the consulates, the International Liaison Section provides assistance to the U.S. State Department, the U.S. Secret Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Interpol, and other government agencies. A 24-hour interpreter service is available through the International Liaison Section, offering approximately 45 different languages. Other services provided by the section include the issuance of travel letters to Department personnel, organization of study exchange programs, and coordination of tours and presentations to visiting foreign dignitaries and police officers.

 Operations Section

The Operations Section provides 24-hour operational capability, responds to the scene of major incidents, gathers and disseminates information to Department executives and media, and serves as staff for Department duty officers.

 Administrative Section

The Administrative Section prepares Sheriff's Bulletins and Unit Commander's Letters, and answers letters written to the Sheriff.
