A Letter from the Sheriff
Thank you for your expressed interest in the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. As you consider a law enforcement career with our Department, you have the opportunity to become a member of the finest law enforcement agency in the world.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is the third-largest municipal law enforcement agency in the nation. Our patrol stations provide protection to Los Angeles County residents from Catalina Island to the Antelope Valley, and from the wilderness of the Angeles National Forest to the hustle-bustle of L.A.'s inner city.
After completing initial assignments in Custody and Patrol Divisions, deputies may then seek positions in a variety of specialized assignments. Deputy Sheriffs may choose from more than 350 job classifications and assignments throughout their career.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department also offers a wide variety of civilian and support positions. All positions offer competitive salary and benefits. Our civilian support staff is an essential component and significantly strengthens the Department's total operation.
We bring the same high level of professional service to all regions of the County, using the most up-to-date, state-of-the-art crime fighting equipment and techniques. We are also recognized by police and sheriff departments worldwide for our high-caliber training programs and for our developments in officer tactics, which are now being implemented by peace officers throughout the country. We have made it our mission to provide quality law enforcement to the communities we serve through the concept of service-oriented policing.
From protection to training, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is a leader in the law enforcement community. Join a "Tradition of Service" and you'll have a career that offers geographic diversity, great benefits, and satisfying work that makes a difference.
Sincerely,
LEROY BACA
