ERIC K. HAMILTON PROMOTED TO CAPTAIN

Eric K. Hamilton, a 21-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, has been promoted to the rank of Captain by Sheriff Lee Baca, and assumed command of Compton Sheriff’s Station. Compton Station provides police services to the unincorporated areas of East Rancho Dominguez, Rosewood, Gardena, and the contract city of Compton.

Captain Hamilton’s law enforcement career began in 1982 when he attended the Department’s Training Academy. Upon graduation, he served at the Inmate Reception Center as a deputy, then moved on to patrol assignments at Lennox and Marina Del Rey Stations, and Narcotics Bureau. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1992, and worked assignments at Marina Del Rey Station, Men’s Central Jail, Carson Station, Internal Criminal Investigations Bureau, Court Services Division, and Pre-Employment. In 1997, he was promoted to Lieutenant and worked assignments at North County Correctional Facility, West Hollywood Station, Bureau of Compliance, and Narcotics Bureau. Captain Hamilton holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminology from Chapman College. Previous to his college career, Captain Hamilton served four years in the United States Air Force, where he attained the rank of Sergeant.

Captain Hamilton resides in Los Angeles with his wife Zoe. He has two children, Julian and Matthew, and relaxes by golfing, jogging, or spending quality time with his family. Captain Hamilton said, “I am extremely humbled and honored to be given the opportunity to be promoted to the rank of Captain and assume command of Compton Sheriff’s Station. It will be my mission to continue to provide the exceptional service in which all residents of Compton and Station personnel can be proud.”
