SHERIFF BACA AWARDS DIPLOMAS
TO RESERVE CLASSES #97 & #98

Twenty male and four female Reserve Deputies from the Sheriff’s Department, along with fourteen male and one female Reserve Officers from eight police agencies, and two individuals not affiliated with any agency graduated from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Training Academy in a ceremony held Monday night, February 9, 2004, in the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors’ Hearing Room.
In presenting the certificates of graduation to Reserve Classes #97 and #98, Sheriff Lee Baca was joined by officials from the police departments of Bassett Unified School District, Burbank, California Department of Public Safety, Glendale, La Verne, Monterey Park, San Fernando, and Sierra Madre.

To prepare themselves for this law enforcement endeavor, the graduates participated in all-day training classes on Sundays along with two weekday evening training classes each week. In order to reach various levels of Reserve status, graduates are required to complete 477 to 921 hours of intensive training.
