SHERIFF
BACA AWARDS DIPLOMAS TO
RESERVE CLASS #95
Eighteen male and three Reserve Deputies from the Sheriff's Department, along with six male Reserve Officers from three police agencies, graduated from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Training Academy in a ceremony held Monday night, February 10, 2003, in the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors' Hearing Room.
In presenting the certificates of graduation to Reserve Class #95, Sheriff Lee Baca was joined by officials from the police departments of Glendale, La Verne, and Monterey Park.
To prepare themselves for this law enforcement endeavor, the graduates participated in all-day training classes on Sundays along with two weekday evening training classes each week. In order to reach various levels of Reserve status, graduates are required to complete from 217 to 816 hours of intensive training.
In his congratulatory remarks to the class, Sheriff Baca said, "Today, the expectations and demands from the community for quality law enforcement performance have never been greater. We are indeed fortunate that these fine people have chosen to take part in the Reserve Law Enforcement Program. They bring courage and dedication to the job at hand, and provide valuable and much needed resources in assisting us in our efforts to respond appropriately to the needs and expectations of the community."
Those interested in receiving additional information on the reserve program may contact their nearest Sheriff's Station.
