RALPH J. WEBB PROMOTED TO CAPTAIN
Ralph J. Webb, a 23-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, has been promoted to the rank of Captain by Sheriff Lee Baca, and assumed command of Norwalk Station. Norwalk Station provides police services to the residents who work and reside in the unincorporated areas of Whittier, and the contract cities of Norwalk and La Mirada. Captain Webb’s law enforcement career began in June of 1976 as a Police Explorer with the Montebello Police Department. In June 1981 he became a Montebello Reserve Police Officer. He was later employed as a Law Enforcement Intern with the Norwalk and Lakewood Stations from September 1981 to June 1983. In 1983, he attended the Department’s Training Academy. Upon graduation, he served at the Men’s Central Jail as a deputy, then moved on to a patrol assignment at Firestone Station before transferring to the Recruit Training Bureau as a Academy Staff Instructor. He promoted to Sergeant in 1992 and was assigned to Pico Rivera Station, Lakewood Station, and as a Department Advocate, assigned to the Professional Standards and Training Division. He promoted to Lieutenant in March of 1996 and returned to Men’s Central Jail before serving as Watch Commander at Temple Station. He then transferred to Court Services Division where he worked Central Bureau and Division Operations. His most recent assignment was at the Civil Litigation Unit. Captain Webb’s education includes an Associate of Arts Degree in General Education from Rio Hondo Community College, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from California State University, Los Angeles. Additionally, Captain Webb possesses a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Southern California. Captain Webb resides in Fullerton with his wife, Yolanda of 17 years. He has two children, Michelle and Kristina. He is an avid motorcycle enthusiast, and owns two Harley- Davidson motorcycles. He is a collector of vintage fountain pens, contemporary wrist watches, and good red wines. He enjoys, reading, teaching, watching old movies, and spending time at home with his family. Captain Webb teaches a Distance Learning Program at California State University, Long Beach and is an Adjunct Faculty Instructor at Cerritos Community College in the Administration of Justice Department. |
