PATRICK J. MALLON PROMOTED TO COMMANDER
Patrick J. Mallon, a 34-year veteran with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, has been promoted to the rank of Commander by Sheriff Leroy D. Baca and will serve as the Night Tactical Commander.
Commander Mallon's career with the Sheriff's Department began in July of 1967 when he attended the Sheriff's Training Academy. He then was assigned to the Men's Central Jail, Temple Station, and the Fiscal Services Bureau. He promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1976 and worked the Communications and Fleet Management Bureau, Technical Services Division Headquarters, and Industry Station. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 1982 and was assigned to the Inmate Reception Center, Custody Division Headquarters, Industry Station, Walnut Station Construction Project, and Walnut Station. After collecting a myriad of experience from his previous assignments as a lieutenant, he promoted to the rank of Captain in April of 1990. As a Captain, he worked the Twin Towers Construction Project, SANE/Reserve Forces Bureau, Transportation Bureau, and Correctional Services Division Headquarters.
Commander Mallon received an Associate of Arts in General Education from Pierce College in 1967, a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from California State University at Los Angeles in 1975, and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Pepperdine University in 1980. Commander Mallon was also a member of the United States Army from 1967 to1969. He specialized in Criminal Investigations where he received his highest rank as Specialist 4 in that unit.
Commander Mallon resides in Covina with his wife, Dianne. He has four children: Danny and Julia who are attending college; Timothy, a high school student; and Brighid, an elementary school student. Commander Mallon enjoys spending time watching his daughter (Bride) who is a competitive traditional Irish Dancer. Commander Mallon is continuing his education and studying Business Administration at California State University, Fullerton. He enjoys an occasional round of golf as well.
