DANNY SNEED PROMOTED TO CAPTAIN


        Danny Sneed, a 36-year law enforcement veteran, has been promoted to the rank of Captain by Sheriff Lee Baca and assumed command of Court Services West Bureau.  Court Services West Bureau provides police services to all the Superior Courts on the west side of the county from Long Beach to Lancaster.

            Captain Sneed’s law enforcement career began in July of 1969 as a Community Service Officer with the Compton Police Department.   In April 1974, he attended the Sheriff’s Department’s Training Academy and became a Compton Police Officer.   Upon graduating, he served as a Patrol Officer before transferring to the Detective Division as a homicide Investigator.  He promoted to Sergeant in 1983 and was assigned as a patrol supervisor.  He also served as a supervisor for Aero Division, and as a Department Advocate, assigned to the Community Policing Division.  He promoted to Lieutenant in December of 1992 and served as Watch Commander and Aide to the Chief of Police.   After serving 31 years with the Compton Police Department, he attained the rank of Captain.  When the Compton Police Department and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department merged on September 17, 2000, he became a member of the Sheriff’s Department.
           
              Captain Sneed earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from California State University, Dominguez Hills.   Additionally, Captain Sneed received the Award of Merit from the Governor for crime prevention and was also the recipient of a national award as a Homicide Detective.

            Captain Sneed resides in Paramount with Shelia Ann, his wife of 25 years.  He has four children: Danielle, Daniel, Shaun, and Brian.  He is an avid sports fan and  enjoys reading, teaching, and vacationing with his family.
