JACK JORDAN PROMOTED TO CAPTAIN


        Jack Jordan, a 34-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, has been promoted to the rank of Captain by Sheriff Lee Baca and has assumed command of the Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Bureau.  

            Captain Jordan started his career in law enforcement in 1972, when he began the Department’s Training Academy as a member of Class #153.  After graduating, Captain Jordan was assigned to Wayside Honor Rancho - Maximum Security Facility.  He also worked at Lennox Station, Lomita Station, and Field Operations Region II Headquarters.  In 1981, Captain Jordan was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and worked Carson Station, Lennox Station, and the Organized Crime Unit until his promotion to Lieutenant in 1986.  As a Lieutenant, he worked at Men’s Central Jail, Firestone Station, Operation Safe Streets Bureau, Multi-jurisdictional Criminal Apprehension Detail, Commercial Crimes Bureau, and the Homicide Bureau.  His most recent assignment was the aide to Assistant Sheriff Tanaka.  
               
            Captain Jordan attended East Los Angeles College, El Camino College, and California State University at Long Beach.

            Captain Jordan lives in the South Bay with his wife, Denise.  He has four adult children: Jack III, 29; Michael, 27; Daniel, 24; and Thomas, 22, and has a precious 4-month-old granddaughter, Brianna Nicolle.  In his spare time Captain Jordan enjoys deep sea fishing, traveling with his family, hanging out at the beach, and playing golf with his sons.  He also enjoys driving his restored classic 1967 Firebird.
