GREGORY H. JOHNSON PROMOTED TO CAPTAIN

 

Gregory H. Johnson, a 27-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, was recently promoted to the rank of Captain by Sheriff Lee Baca and has assumed command of the North County Correctional Facility.

Captain Johnson’s law enforcement career began in 1978, when he attended the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Training Academy in Class 190. Upon his graduation, his assignments included Men’s Central Jail, Inmate Reception Center, Transportation Bureau and Industry Station. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1986 and was assigned to Lynwood Station, Vice Bureau, Internal Affairs Bureau and Internal Criminal Investigations Bureau. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 1997 and was assigned to Men’s Central Jail, Malibu/Lost Hills Station and Internal Affairs Bureau.

Captain Johnson was born in Los Angeles and resides in Crestline. He has been married to his wife, Christie, for 17 years. They have three children: Randall, 26, a Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff; Lonnell, 25, an insurance representative; and Brittany, 16, a student. Captain Johnson earned an Associate of Arts Degree in Police Science from Mt. San Antonio College. He enjoys jogging, lifting weights, and motorcycle riding, and is an avid University of Southern California football fan.
