WILLIAM M. RYAN PROMOTED TO CAPTAIN

 

William M. Ryan, a 25-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, was recently promoted to the rank of Captain by Sheriff Lee Baca and has assumed command of the Narcotics Bureau.

Captain Ryan’s career with the Sheriff’s Department began in 1980, when he attended the Department’s Training Academy and graduated as a Deputy Sheriff. His first assignment was Men’s Central Jail and after two years, transferred to Lakewood Station where he completed his patrol training. Captain Ryan was promoted to Sergeant in 1987, and worked at Crescenta Valley Station, Administrative Services Division, and went on loan to another County police department. In 1997 he was promoted to Lieutenant and worked at Twin Towers Correctional Facility, Lakewood Station as the Service Area Lieutenant for the City of Bellflower, Custody Support Services, Employee Relations, and Office of the Assistant Sheriff where he served as an Executive Aide.

Captain Ryan holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Captain Ryan resides in Chino Hills with his wife, Leslie, of 21 years, and two daughters: Mara, who is a college student and Kaylee, who is a high school student. In his spare time he enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with his family.
