ERIC G. PARRA PROMOTED TO CAPTAIN

 

Eric G. Parra, an 18-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, was recently promoted to the rank of Captain by Sheriff Lee Baca and has assumed command of the Emergency Operations Bureau. In this new assignment he will be responsible for overseeing the Emergency Management and Disaster Response and the Terrorism Early Warning Group. The TEW serves as an intake center for information on terrorism, public order and dignitary security issues for the County of Los Angeles.

Captain Parra’s career with the Sheriff’s Department began in 1987, when he attended the Department’s Training Academy as a member of Class #236. After graduating as a Deputy Sheriff, he held assignments at Men’s Central Jail and Lynwood Station. Captain Parra was promoted to Sergeant in 1993 and worked at Pitchess Detention Center-South Facility, Lakewood Station, Special Enforcement Bureau, and the Office of the Sheriff. In 2000 Captain Parra was promoted to Lieutenant and worked at the Community Oriented Policing (COPS) Bureau, Los Angeles County Strategic Plan (LASD 2), Industry Station, and the Special Enforcement Bureau.

Captain Parra graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Administation of Justice from California State University - Long Beach and holds a Juris Doctorate Degree from Western State University College of Law. Captain Parra is also a member of the California State Bar. Captain Parra resides in Huntington Beach. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife, Michelle, and their children: Eric, Luke, Jeffrey, and Brandon. Captain Parra also enjoys off-road motorcycle riding, running, and watching his children participate in sporting events.
