Alice Scott, a 25-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, was recently promoted to the rank of Captain by Sheriff Lee Baca and assumed command of the Department’s Twin Towers Correctional Facility.

Captain Scott’s law enforcement career began in 1980, when she attended the Department’s Training Academy. Soon after graduation, she worked at various assignments including Sybil Brand Institute for Women and Carson Station. In 1989 she was promoted to Sergeant and worked Norwalk Station, Internal Affairs Bureau, Inspectional Services Unit, Special Projects for the Office of the Undersheriff, Food Services Unit, and the Division Aide to the Chief of the Correctional Services Division. Upon being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2001, she was assigned as the Unit Commander at the Food Services Unit.

Captain Scott holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Business Administration from Cerritos College. She lives in Yorba Linda with her husband, John, a recently retired Division Chief from the Sheriff’s Department, and their two children: Ben, 13, and Wes, 10. Captain Scott is active in her community where she authors the neighborhood newsletter and coordinates neighborhood events. In her spare time she enjoys reading, skiing, golfing, and family activities.

Captain Scott best describes her management style in a quote by the Pulitzer Prize winning journalist, David S. Broder, “In a democracy, a man who does not listen cannot lead.”
