JOHN H. CLARK PROMOTED TO CAPTAIN
John H. Clark, a 25-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, was recently promoted to the rank of Captain by Sheriff Lee Baca, and was assigned to the Transportation Bureau. The Transportation Bureau is primarily responsible for the transportation of prisoners to and from Court, Department custody facilities and State prisons. The Bureau is also responsible for the transportation of Department personnel in response to emergencies or disasters; and the transportation of sequestered juries to their housing locations.
Captain Clark’s career with the Sheriff's Department began in April of 1979. After graduating from the Sheriff’s Training Academy as a Deputy Sheriff, he held assignments at Men’s Central Jail, Temple Station, and Data Systems Bureau. Upon being promoted to Sergeant in 1987, Captain Clark was assigned to Industry Station and Custody Division Administration. When he was promoted to Lieutenant in 1991, he worked at the Pitchess Detention Center-East Facility, Inmate Reception Center, Industry Station, Training Bureau, Court Services Division Headquarters, and the Office of the Assistant Sheriffs.
Captain Clark received an Associate of Arts Degree in Administration of Justice from Citrus Junior College in Azusa, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from California State University, Fullerton. He resides in La Verne with his wife, Teri. Captain Clark has two children, Brian, 23, an accountant working in New York City, and Michael, 20, a sophomore at San Diego State University. In his spare time, Captain Clark enjoys waterskiing and snow skiing.
