SHERIFF BACA PRESIDES OVER GRADUATION
CEREMONY OF RESERVE CLASS #106

Twenty-one male and two female Reserve Deputies, as well as seven male Reserve Officers from the Burbank, Huntington Park, La Verne, and Metropolitan State Hospital Police Departments and three male Reserve Officers not affiliated with an agency, graduated from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Training Academy in ceremonies held on Monday, August 28, 2006, at the Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration, Board of Supervisors’ Hearing Room.

To prepare themselves for this law enforcement endeavor, the graduates participated in all-day training classes on Sundays, along with two weekday evening training classes each week. In order to reach various levels of Reserve status, graduates are required to complete 477 to 921 hours of intensive training.

As part of the graduation, a badge-pinning ceremony was conducted, with the new Reserve Deputies and Reserve Officers receiving their badges from a family member or loved one. After receiving their graduation certificates, the graduates were officially sworn in as peace officers by Sheriff Lee Baca.

In a special segment of the ceremony, Reserve Deputy Anthony Calvillo of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s South Academy, a resident of San Dimas, and Reserve Deputy Christopher Bromiley of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s North Academy, a resident of Northridge, were named the Honor Recruits for Class #106. These awards are given to the recruits who achieve the highest numerical average based upon leadership qualities, social relations and personal traits, practical performance, academics, marksmanship, and physical performance throughout the training period.

Those interested in receiving additional information on the Reserve Program may contact their nearest Sheriff’s Station.
