JOE L. GARZA PROMOTED TO CAPTAIN
|
Joe L. Garza, a 32-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, was recently promoted to the rank of Captain by Sheriff Lee Baca and has assumed command of the Reserve Forces Bureau. Captain Garza’s career with the Sheriff’s Department began in 1972, when he attended the Department’s Training Academy as a member of Class #154. Soon after graduating as a Deputy Sheriff, he held assignments at the Men’s Central Jail, East Los Angeles Station, Training Bureau, and Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Captain Garza was promoted to Sergeant in March 1985, and worked at Firestone Station, Sheriff’s Radio Center, Pre-Employment Unit, Pico Rivera Station, Recruitment Bureau, Vice Bureau, and Internal Affairs Bureau. In 2001, Captain Garza was promoted to Lieutenant and worked at Court Services East Bureau and Century Station. Captain Garza earned an Associate
of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from East Los Angeles College, and
has a Bachelor of Science Degree in
Administration of Justice from California State University, Los Angeles.
Captain Garza also holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration
from National University. Captain Garza resides in the City of Covina.
In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his children: Joe, 33,
and Michael, 20. Captain Garza also enjoys classic car restoration and
music. |
