CARLOS A. HERNANDEZ PROMOTED TO ASSISTANT DIVISION DIRECTOR

Carlos A. Hernandez was recently promoted to the rank of Assistant Division Director by Sheriff Lee Baca, and assigned to the Department's Administrative Services Division. Under his command are the Facilities Planning Bureau and the Facilities Services Bureau.

Assistant Division Director Hernandez has 34 years of service with the County of Los Angeles, 22 years with County Engineers and Internal Services Department. He joined the Sheriff's Department in 1990 as Assistant Director of Facilities Planning. In 1997 he was promoted to Director of Bureau Operations, Facilities Administration, in charge of the Department's Capital Projects, leases, space allocations, building maintenance, and alterations/improvements.

Assistant Division Director Hernandez also served in the United States Marine Corps from 1961 to 1968 and went through "boot camp" in San Diego, California. He also is an alumnus of East Los Angeles Community College and California State University-Los Angeles.

Assistant Division Director Hernandez was born in Los Angeles and resides in Walnut with his wife of 39 years, Dolores. They have three grown children and two lovely grandchildren: Michael and his wife Erin, Martin and his wife Kerry and grandchildren Brandon and Connor, who all live in Texas, and daughter Christina who is a Law Enforcement Technician with the Department.

Assistant Division Director Hernandez enjoys golfing and fishing with family and friends whenever possible.
