The city of Lakewood provides general law enforcement, traffic enforcement, crime investigation and Special Assignment Officers. Deputies assigned to patrol units perform basic duties such as:

* Responding to the scene of a crime or an accident
* Interview suspects, witnesses
* Writing crime reports
* Responding to radio calls
* Monitoring any suspicious activity
* Arresting criminals and collecting evidence
* Collecting evidence
* Respond to citizen’s questions and complaints

The Special Assignment Officers are a group of highly trained personnel that are tasked with handling a variety of public safety and quality of life issues for residents, businesses and property owners for the city of Lakewood. Special Assignment Officers conduct various operations that include abatement and code enforcement activities, parole and probation searches, search warrants, criminal investigations and numerous other activities in support of community policing. A recent addition to the team includes a dedicated crime scene fingerprint technician.

The Lakewood Sheriff’s Community Center is located in the Lakewood Mall. The center provides many services to city residents. The services include kid print, live scan fingerprinting, information about the Lakewood Auto Watch (LAW) and Neighborhood Watch programs. Residents may also obtain a license for a bicycle or learn about other community-based law enforcement programs. For more information please call
